Fascinating, food-related documentaries you must add to your Netflix watchlist

The more you know about food the better (hopefully) your food choices. Knowledge is power, and applying that knowledge is of even greater power. With that thought in mind, I wanted to share the most captivating documentaries on Netflix that I've seen to date. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

1. Cooked - created by a best selling author, activist and journalist Michael Pollan (who also stars in it), this visually stunning 4-episode documentary explores four natural elements - fire, water, air and earth and their role in food preparation throughout human's history. Shot in some of the most interesting places in the world from Western Australia to India. Totally loved it!

2. GMO OMG - this brilliant documentary with a little boy (with a unique hobby) as one of the main characters answers one of the most important questions of today's world: "What are GMO crops and why are they bad for us?". Additionally, what I found incredibly interesting, was to see inside the world's biggest seed bank in Norway.

3. Fed Up - sad and infuriating at the same time, this eye-opening documentary examines the modern 'epidemic' of childhood obesity in America.

4. Food, Inc. - this oscar nominated documentary examines the food industry and its harmful effects on human health and the environment.

5. Vanishing of the bees - this gripping documentary explores one of the most puzzling phenomenon of recent years - worldwide disappearance of bees. Up until I have seen this film, I never realized the importance of bees and their relationship to so many foods we eat everyday.

Please share any other ones you think may be worth watching.
